2018 - the year in rearview
Hey everybody, as 2018 vanishes in the rearview mirror, I want to thank everyone who helped make it a big year for me. A few highlights:
Reviews in something around 30 publications, including being named Country Music People’s “Album of the Month” in 2018
Appearance on multiple “Best of 2018” lists, including SavingCountryMusic.com’s “Most Essential Albums” list, Americana Boogie’s “Top 15 Albums” list, Country Music People’s Best Songs of 2018 playlist, and year-end lists for several radio programs, both in the US and abroad. Head over to my press page for the complete list.

A whole bunch of fun shows
And of course, the release of Baby You Win in July 2018
There’s no telling what 2019 will bring, but I can say that I intend to do a lot of shows and release some new music as well – more on all that in the not-too-distant future. So, more to come, onwards and upwards…
And if you haven’t heard the record, I encourage you to check it out on the platform of your choice here.
All the best to you in 2019!
American standard time video premiere of “it hurt her to hurt me”
I'm excited to share the American Standard Time premiere of the video for my song "It Hurt Her to Hurt Me," directed by Neighborhoods Apart Productions and starring Doug and Telisha Williams of the Wild Ponies (and filmed in their awesome trailer in Nashville).
baby you win named "album of the month" along with a 5 Star review + feature in country music people magazine
Honored that Country Music People Magazine (UK) named my new album, Baby You Win, their "Album of the Month" along with a 5 star review in their August issue. In addition, they included a feature on me and the album!
"This is a stylish release, right down to the artwork which is just made for vinyl, and is a fine example of honky tonk that rocks in all the right ways. The guitar work is impressive and yet does exactly what it needs to do. This is the sort of thing I found really exciting when I was first getting into country music and it's the kind of thing I always enjoy in a live setting."
baby you win reviewed by saving country music, 9/10 rating
Saving Country Music gave a 9/10 rating and a “very rare Two Guns Up review for this badass new record” from yours truly. Blown away by the kind words: "a record that will whip the pants off of most others released this year and many from years prior, and get you making room on your list of favorite artists."
SONG PREMIERES IN POPDUST, GHETTOBLASTER AND COWBOYS & INDIANS
I'm really psyched to have THREE more songs off my forthcoming album Baby You Win premiered: "I'll Play the Fool" in Popdust, "Till the Right One Comes Along" in Ghettoblaster and "Baby You Win" in Cowboys & Indians. Check out the premiere links below and have a listen to the songs!

BABY YOU WIN REVIEWED BY CD HOTLIST
My forthcoming album Baby You Win was selected as one of "Rick's Picks" for the July CD HotList alongside a glowing review of the album.
"...he writes songs that partake of the clever wordplay and sharp romantic wit that were the stock in trade of country songwriters 60 years ago, and he plays and sings them (accompanied by the cream of New York City’s Americana session-player crop) in a sweet, clear voice that you could listen to all day. What this is, is country music. The very best kind of country music."
"MORE AND MORE" PREMIERES ON POPMATTERS
PopMatters is premiering my song “More and More” today. It’s a pretty sweet review, and really an honor to be featured there. As some of you know, this song was a finalist at the MerleFest songwriting competition this year, and it’s the first track we’re releasing into the wild, so please stay tuned for further news. And after you check it out, feel free to pre-order my album [release date July 13, 2018] here.

"More and More," a track from my upcoming album Baby You Win is a finalist in the Chris Austin Songwriting Competition that's held at the legendary MerleFest in North Carolina later this month. I'm honored it was selected and thrilled to perform the song in front of a panel of judges that includes Rodney Crowell and Johnny Williams.
